Community Crime Fighters
Bolton Community Crime Fighters program
The Community Crime Fighters program aims to:
Equip community groups and citizens to play a stronger role in tackling crime and anti social behaviour.
Provide members of the public who are already active in their communities with information and support to enable them to work with Bolton’s Neighbourhood Policing teams and Bolton Council to make communities safer.
In Bolton, 91 people have already become members of the Community Crime Fighters group. They are like minded people, who want to improve the areas they live in, and learn about ways to tackle anti social behaviour and crime in their local communities.
Ever felt that you are alone in standing up for your community?
Many people have spoken about the sense of isolation they have felt as the only people ready to speak out. If you join the scheme:
you won’t be expected to take on any additional status, formal role or authority but you will be given our encouragement, support and help to be as successful as possible in advocating for your community.
you will also be put in touch with many other like minded people in Bolton who can act as a support network of contacts.
you will be provided with the knowledge and tools necessary to perform this role for the community, which will include:
Information on services in your neighbourhood - What you should expect from the police, local criminal justice agencies and local government, including information on the courts, how sentencing works and what to expect from Bolton Council for young people or parents.
Information on what should happen when you identify a problem - What approaches and solutions it is reasonable to ask for in different circumstances, from anti-social behaviour contracts to criminal prosecutions, and how to complain if nothing gets done.
