Think Safe Drink Safe

                                        Think Safe Drink Safe

During June, to celebrate the World Cup, the Be Safe partnership are getting together with Get Active Bolton and others to promote enjoying the football and drinking socially, rather than binge drinking.

The local policing team will be giving away bottled water on the nights of the England games in Bolton, so that people can drink water between alcoholic drinks.  The campaign is similar to the very successful Operation Sherry campaign last Christmas, where bottled water was given away, which saw a drop in all crime types during December. The campaign, called Think Safe Drink Safe, will focus on:

  • Reducing violent incidents during the World Cup
  • Reducing domestic violence and incidents during the World Cup
  • Ensuring that everyone is able to enjoy the World Cup without feeling threatened by other people’s behaviour

Be Safe partners (the police, council and others) will be giving away bottled water at various events throughout the world cup, where members of the public can also pick up free World Cup planners so they can plan their World Cup viewing.
