Alcohol - Did you know?
Did you know that...
- Four pints of strong lager (5% or more) contains 880 calories
- One alcopop has the same calories as a portion of regular fries
- Calorie for calorie, 7 alcopops stack up to three big hamburgers, 10 slices of cheese, a regular pizza or five (yes five!) chocolate bars
- Two and a half pints of bitter pack the same calories as a kebab
- And drinking a large glass of wine is the same as eating a doughnut
If you are a man, be aware…
1 pint of strong lager (5%) = 3 units
1 pint of light lager (4%) = 2.3 units
1 pint of cider (6.2%) = 3.5 units
250ml (large) red/white wine (12%) = 3 units
750ml bottle of wine (12%) = 9 units
275ml alcopop (5%) = 1.4 units
Double vodka (40%) = 2.8 units
Single whiskey = 1.4 units

Safe drinking level set by the government is no more than 4 units a day for men and no more than 3 units a day for women.
It’s not a good idea to ‘store up’ your units and have them all at weekend. Have at least two alcohol free days a week.
