Victim Support and Witness Service, Bolton
Victim Support and Witness Service is an independent national charity, which has a local branch based in Bolton. The project offers support and advice to victims or witnesses of crime. They offer confidential support and information, practical help and emotional support, and information on the criminal justice system and compensation, if the incident is reported. They can also give information on dealing with a range of organisations, for example, employers or housing agencies.
Victims or witness can contact the service for support, even if they chose not to report the incident, and any information provided will be kept completely confidential.
Volunteers from the service can visit the individual at home or elsewhere, and on the victims request accompany them to the Police station and court. They can liaise with other services on the victims’ behalf, or put them in touch with other sources of practical help.

Bolton Equality Council (BEC)
Bolton Equality Council offers a free and confidential advice service to victims and witnesses of hate crime. They offer support and assistance to groups or individuals, help to identify what options are available and provide contact with other sources of help.
Any information which is shared with other agencies is with the approval of the victim and in the strictest confidence.
