Nominating Schemes
The public should be able to play a part in nominating schemes that could benefit their local areas.
Pioneer Areas - 3000 hours of visible Community Payback As a Pioneer Area Bolton has committed to ensure Community Payback carried is highly visible. To help you deliver this we have agreed with the National Offender Management Service that each Pioneer Area CDRP/CSP will be allocated a number of hours of Community Payback during 2009/10 to “own” and deliver in a highly visible way.
The number of hours allocated will vary according to the size of the Pioneer Area but will average 3000 per CDRP/CSP. Full details of how the scheme will operate have been provided in a briefing to Probation which will be shared with you.
Now you can 'have your say' in what work takes place in Bolton and how this will benefit your community. From bringing derelict areas and buildings back into public use, clearing churchyards, repairing park benches and removing graffiti, offenders are working to make your community a better place to live. Offenders on Community Orders do work that otherwise may not be carried out.
It’s your choice
We want residents to nominate the projects that they want to see carried out by Community Payback. We would encourage individuals, faith groups, businesses, voluntary groups and local authorities to nominate projects.
Once the work has been completed, a plaque will be displayed with the Community Payback logo. This will indicate where offenders have positively contributed to improving a neighbourhood.
To be considered, a project must meet the following criteria: It must benefit the local community.
It must not take paid work away from others
No one must make a profit from the work
It must be worthwhile, constructive and improve offenders' skills
Offenders must be seen to be positively contributing to the local community
The underground subway on the A666 from Churchgate to Castle Street was the first site directly selected by residents through a phone and web vote. Offenders removed all the debris, scrubbing off graffiti, picking up litter and cutting back the overgrown shrubs and bushes.
There is now a permanent Community Payback Nomination Scheme which gives residents the opportunity to make suggestions about what projects offenders should be working on via a Hotline and email address.
To nominate schemes residents can call the Hotline on 01204 336500 or email
payback@bolton.gov.uk
The Hotline is staffed between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday and there will be an out of hours voicemail facility.
Calls will be charged at standard rate.
If you ring the hotline trained staff will talk through your suggestion with you. A decision will then be made as to whether it is possible to carry out the work. You will be kept informed of the progress of your suggestion. If you contact us by email someone may ring you to discuss your suggestion. Make sure you let us have a full description of what your suggestion will involve and where the location is.
Alternatively you can attend an Area Forum and make your suggestion in person.
